Out of the fog

This site was originally started to make the book I wrote, “Out of the Fog” available on-line for free. We have added more to it and made it a true personal web site.

In the mean time, please take a look at the book. Read the first chapter, (“My Weariness Amazes Me”). It should take you about three minutes. If you like the first chapter  then you might like the whole book. If you don’t like the first chapter, I am pretty sure you will not like the book.

“Out of the Fog” was written in Spanish to help young ministers here in Spain to recognize legalism in their own lives and to be freed from it. Legalism has been a bane on the church in Spain. Many legalists sincerely want to please God, but go about it all the wrong way.

The opposite of legalism is not carnality. Many times living the Christian life is reduced to prohibitions and obligations. The Apostle Paul had no patience for the people who defined the beautiful life in Christ this way. He was equally angry with those who abused grace to satisfy their carnal desires.

One incident that I mention in the book that might clear things up for us took place when a very good friend sent me an email asking, “What is the difference between legalism and holiness?” I wrote back to answer her question with a question of my own, “We all want to be holy, but do we attain holiness by striving or by the rest?”

Marisa and I have been stunned by the response to this little book. People have used it in their family devotional time, ministries have used it in their corporate devotional time, pastors have shown me their copies, all marked up with different colors (just like I do with books, too).

I just hope that these 50 devotional thoughts on our freedom in the Spirit from legalism and religion will bring revelation to your life and you will see that holiness is not only possible, it is actually easy.

Feel free to print, download, share, copy or quote anything from these pages. You should, of course, cite the source and maybe even link to it, but I won’t be following you around with a herd of lawyers. My goal is to start people thinking along these lines and see them deepen their relationship with Christ.

If you want to order copies of the book, they are available for $8.00 plus postage. Please click here and the great people at Grace Pointe Assembly of God, Carthage, MO will be happy to help you.
